What does a Learning council do?
A Learning Council is a group of pupils who act as representatives of their classmates in discussing school issues with the headteacher and is used as a group to speak with visitors/Governors. We call it a Learning Council at High Hurstwood CE Primary School rather than a School Council as our meetings link specifically to the learning which is being covered at school. Students are elected to represent the views of all pupils and also to improve their school.
They help to make decisions about how the school is run and take on projects that support the children’s learning and development, such as discussions on how you learn best, starting iniatives off with each class, representing the school at outside events or ensuring the school is environmentally friendly.
